Pernambuco is divided in 12 Development Regions (DRs) according to socio-economic and geographic characteristics (location, climate, topography, etc.). This strategic division has assisted public policy to take advantage of each area's distinct conditions, reinforce economic vocations and foster private enterprises.
DRs are endowed with unique characteristics, infrastructure (railways, roads, airports), industry support (professional training, raw material providers, logistics and service networks) and population services (housing, education, healthcare, etc.).
